Evolution of Breeds
Upon moving to the United States after marriage, the family's first canine companion was a Smooth Standard Dachshund. Soon after, Rhodesian Ridgebacks and Whippets joined the household, with Ridgebacks assuming a central role. Through meticulous breeding efforts under the Oakhurst prefix, the kennel achieved remarkable success in both the whelping box and show ring.
Achievements of Our Breeding Program
Oakhurst's breeding program is renowned for its exceptional conformation and temperament, boasting nearly 100 champions, including numerous recipients of prestigious accolades such as 10 All-Breed Bests In Show titles and 3 Ridgebacks securing the #1 spot in the country. The most recent achievement occurred in 2011 with a distinguished bitch.
Passing the Oakhurst Breeding Program
The mantle of the Oakhurst breeding program has been officially entrusted to Linda Shue and Karen Stewart, depicted alongside Barbara and Dicki in the image above. Linda and Karen, with 35 and 25 years of collaborative breeding experience with Barbara Rupert, respectively, are committed to upholding the legacy of excellence in Ridgeback breeding.
